Society for Endocrinology - a world-leading authority on hormones

Abstracts and posters

Sharing your work at SfE BES is a fantastic opportunity to get useful feedback and ideas to progress your work as well as boosting your presentation and networking skills.

Accepted abstracts are presented at the event either as a poster, e-poster or as an oral presentation.

Abstracts are now published online in Endocrine Abstracts

Abstract submission is now closed.

The BES team would like to say a big thank you to all of you who submitted abstracts to the BES 2017 meeting.

All authors will hear from BES in early August to confirm if their abstract has been accepted, ahead of the early bird registration deadline in September.

Accepted abstracts will be published in Endocrine Abstracts online and are accepted on the understanding that the work has not been published or presented elsewhere, excluding other Society for Endocrinology events.

The Society of Endocrinology hopes to attract a wide range of Endocrinology related research to its meeting to be shared and viewed by members of the field. Below you will find the abstract category list for SfE BES 2017:

  • Bone and calcium
  • Clinical biochemistry
  • Clinical practice, governance & case reports
  • Neoplasia, cancer and late effects
  • Nursing practice
  • Diabetes and cardiovascular
  • Obesity and metabolism
  • Neuroendocrinology and pituitary
  • Reproduction
  • Adrenal and steroids
  • Thyroid

Posters and ePosters

During this year’s meeting there will be a selection of clinical cases presented in an electronic poster (ePoster) format. These clinical cases ePosters cover a range of topics within the field of endocrinology and will be available on the ePoster stations found throughout the exhibition hall.

We hope that this format will ensure that the exposure to these clinical cases is extended past the end of the SfE BES 2017 meeting. ePosters will be available to view throughout the meeting, and after the meeting on the Endocrine Abstracts portal.
Authors who have been selected for Featured Clinical Cases will also be asked to upload an ePoster in addition to their physical poster, to further increase the exposure to the authors work.

Guidelines for presenting your poster/ePoster

Prizes and awards

Accepted abstracts may be considered for a range of prizes and awards (over 20 available), which are presented during the conference and recognised at the Society for Endocrinology BES 2017 Awards Ceremony.

In 2017 there will be a wide range of prizes for clinical and basic science presentations.

Case reports

Please note that case reports will only be accepted if they illustrate something significantly new or especially unusual in the clinical case load of the submitting endocrine unit.

If your case is accepted for presentation you will be entitled to a discounted publication in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism Case Reports, a Society for Endocrinology-endorsed online resource.

Endocrine Abstracts

Accepted abstracts will be published in Endocrine Abstracts, both in print and on the web, and are accepted on the understanding that the work has not been published or presented elsewhere in substantially the same form. Authors must not submit the same research (or substantially similar material) concurrently to any other journal or primary publication, or do so until the outcome of their submission to Endocrine Abstracts is known. Submission of an abstract assumes approval for publication in advance of the meeting in both the web and print versions of Endocrine Abstracts. Copyright of accepted abstracts will automatically be assigned to Bioscientifica Ltd – submission indicates your agreement to this.

Conditions of acceptance

Abstracts are also accepted on the understanding that they will be presented at the meeting either as a poster or as an oral presentation. Any author failing to present an accepted abstract at this meeting will automatically be excluded from submitting any future abstracts.

The Programme Committee reserves the right of the final decision regarding acceptance of abstracts and the form of presentation. Notification of acceptance or rejection will be sent to authors in August 2017. Detailed instructions concerning oral presentations and poster sessions will be emailed to qualifying authors with notification of acceptance.

Please note, abstracts that are accepted as poster presentations will need to be displayed on 2x1 metre PORTRAIT poster boards.

Withdrawals

Withdrawals must be made before the 3rd of July. After this date you will be unable to withdraw your abstract from the publication.
