Sponsored seminars
The sponsored seminars have been established to support institutions
wishing to host endocrine seminars, with the intention of raising awareness
of endocrinology as a discipline and to attract scientists, clinicians
and nurses into the specialty.
The seminar will be advertised as The Society for Endocrinology
Seminar. Seminar organisers must agree to comply with the following
requirements.
- The seminar must be endocrine-related
- The seminar is to be known as The Society for Endocrinology Seminar
- The Society will publicise the seminar to its members
- The institution must advertise the seminar session regionally
as well as within their own institute. Young scientists and
clinicians should be especially encouraged to attend. The Society
will send literature that should be displayed and distributed at the
event and may also send a staff member, who may wish to address the
delegates.
Eligibility
Applications will only be considered if submitted by a member of the
Society for Endocrinology. Full Members may apply if they hold a
minimum of one year’s membership. Clinicians in Training, Scientists in Training and Associate Members may apply if
they hold a minimum of six months’ membership. It is anticipated
that the applicant will normally be an academic or academic-related
staff member. If not, a letter of support is required by the principal
investigator or clinical team leader.
Value: Up to £3000 per grant
Grant deadlines: None – continuous throughout the year
Conditions relating to the grant
- Only applications submitted by a recognised Higher Education
Research Institute and /or Medical Institution will be considered
- The
Society requires a short report from the applicant illustrating
the success of the seminar session. The report should include
such details as how the event was publicised, the attendance and
subjects covered. The report must be submitted to the Society no
later than 1 month after the event
- Funds awarded are final and do
not include overheads
- Grants cannot be awarded retrospectively
- The decision of the Grants Panel is final and not subject to
appeal
- The Grants Panel will not accept resubmissions for a particular
seminar
- The successful applicants must recognise the award on their
departmental website with a link to the Society website for
a minimum of six months after receipt of the grant
- The Society reserves the right to publish successful applicants’ final
reports
- Incomplete applications will not be considered
