Awards and Prizes

Young Endocrinologists
All young endocrinologists* who are members of the Society for Endocrinology,
who submit an accepted abstract, will receive a free ticket to the
Banquet**. Please tick the box on the registration form that indicates
you are a young endocrinologist. If you are not a member of the Society
for Endocrinology and would like to apply, please contact Christine
Davis at christine.davis@endocrinology.org.
Prizes are available for the top scoring basic science and clinical
abstract in each category. Prizes will also be available for the
two highest scoring posters in each abstract category as well as
the two highest scoring oral communications.
There will also be a young endocrinologists lunch on Tuesday 6 March
at 11.30 - 12.30. Here you will have the chance to meet your fellow
Society for Endocrinology members. Please also indicate if you would
like to attend on the registration form.

Novartis Awards
Novartis Pharmaceuticals UK Ltd are pleased to offer two prizes of £1000
for the best abstract submissions by young endocrinologists. Abstracts
will be eligible for consideration where the first author is under the
age of 35 or no more than 6 years post PhD/MD/MRCP. Please indicate
on the online abstract form if you would like to be considered for one
of these awards. The Programme Committee will make nominations for prizes
from those abstracts whose authors have indicated that they wish to
be considered.
British Thyroid Association Award
The British Thyroid Association offers an award to a young researcher
at the Society for Endocrinology meeting who submits a high scoring
abstract under the ‘Thyroid’ category. Abstracts eligible
for the award should be submitted under the‘ Thyroid’ category
where the first author is under the age of 35.
Association for Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia
Disorders (AMEND) Young Investigator’s Award
This award is run in association with the Society for Endocrinology.
The first author of the highest scoring abstract in the 'Endocrine tumours
and neoplasia' category will receive a £300 honorarium, certificate
and medal. Criteria for eligibility is as follows:
- Applicants must be 35 years of age or less
- Must be studying for a higher degree, e.g. PhD or MD or within
three years of completing a higher degree
- Must be a UK citizen or the research must have primarily taken
place in the UK
- Abstracts must be on the subject of the combined or individual
conditions associated with MEN1, MEN2a, MEN2b or FMTC
The winning abstract author must present their work at the AMEND AGM
on Saturday 12 May 2007 between 14.00-17.00 at the Friends Meeting House
(room 2) at 173 Euston Road, London NW1 2BJ. Travel expenses will be
reimbursed by AMEND in accordance with the AMEND expenses policy.
Nurse poster session
All posters displayed at the meeting that have been submitted by a
nurse will be displayed in a separate session on Wednesday 7 March from
15.30-16.00. Further details will be available in due course.
