Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and Metabolic Syndrome Special Interest
Group
Background
To engage and develop a forum for all of those clinical and basic scientists working in the field of PCOS in the UK, in order to build a collaborative, supportive scientific network. The Group is led by Professor Steve Atkin (Hull, email: Stephen.Atkin@hyms.ac.uk) and Dr Harpal Randeva (Warwick, email: Harpal.Randeva@warwick.ac.uk).
Actions
Whilst the UK is well recognised for its basic and clinical research,
in the face of increasing funding difficulties it is hoped that a Specialist
Interest Group (SIG) in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome will provide further
stimulus and further opportunities for researchers to develop and foster
further collaborations in the UK. With a few notable exceptions, few centres
have the infrastructure to compete in the international arena consistently,
yet there is a wealth of expertise in the UK that could be harnessed.
