Ergot-derived dopamine agonists

The Society for Endocrinology has been receiving many enquiries and opinions on the recent safety warnings about ergot-derived dopamine agonists (MHRA Drug Safety Update: Volume 2, Issue 3 October 2008, http://www.mhra.gov.uk/Publications/Safetyguidance/DrugSafetyUpdate/CON028267). An updated position statement taking account of these warnings will be issued shortly by the Society.
