Join Professors Philippe Bouchard (France), Felipe Casanueva (Spain) and Paolo Beck-Peccoz (Italy) to pay tribute to three eminent endocrinologists who have recently passed away.

Professor Rolf Gaillard (1944-2011). Professor Rolf-Christian Gaillard, an ESE Executive Committee member, was the Chairman of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, as well as Professor of Medicine, at the Faculty of Medicine, and University Hospital, in Lausanne, Switzerland. He was very active in neuroscience and was President of the Executive Board of the European Neuroendocrine Association.

Professor Giovanni Faglia (1930-2012). Professor Giovanni Faglia founded the Institute of Endocrine Sciences and the School of Specialization in Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases at the University of Milan, Italy. In 2001 he received the prestigious Geoffrey Harris Prize for Neuroendocrinology and in 2005 he was appointed Emeritus Professor of the University of Milan.

Professor Wylie Vale (1941-2012). Professor Wylie Vale was head of the Clayton Foundation Laboratories for Peptide Biology and holder of the Helen McLoraine Chair in Molecular Neurobiology at the Salk Institute in La Jolla, California, USA.
