11 Apr 2012

Via www.healthjobsuk.com. The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTFT) and King’s College London (KCL) is one of eleven comprehensive Biomedical Research Centres in the UK that has had its funding renewed for a further five years as part of the Department of Health’s strategy for Research & Development.

The BRC at GSTFT/KCL focuses on eight research themes encompassing cancer; cardiovascular disease; cutaneous medicine; environment, respiratory & allergy; translational genetics; and transplantation. This call for Research Training Fellowships (RTFs) is one of several training programmes funded by the BRC and overseen by the BRC Training Cluster STEM. Specifically, we seek to appoint up to five trainees to undertake one year of protected research training in areas closely aligned to BRC focussed research clusters and their themes. It is anticipated that during the period of the CTF successful candidates will be expected to 1) complete core training modules in Translational and Experimental Medicine, 2) actively pursue their research project and 3) prepare a research fellowship application for submission to an external funding body, such as a Research Council, Charity or NIHR to support further training towards a PhD.

The scheme is open to Allied Health Professionals, Nurses, Midwives and Pharmacists who have had, until now, a significant clinical and training commitment that has not allowed them the protected time to develop their research careers. The closing date for applications is 5pm, 2 May 2012. Click on the link below for more information.
