The University of Copenhagen seeks to appoint two to three assistant professors to the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, to commence as soon as possible. The posts are limited to a three year time period with the possibility of a one year extension.

In our assessment of the applications for the assistant professorships, the main emphasis will be on the applicant´s ability to document a high level of original scientific work on an international level within areas of research relevant to the ongoing research in the department. The research at the Department of Biomedical Sciences is focussed on understanding the structure, function, and development of various organ systems in health and disease.

The research area of endocrinology focusses on the importance of intrauterine programming; mitochondrial dysfunction in association with insulin-resistance; the incretin function with adipositas and diabetes; lipoprotein metabolism and adipositas aetiology and pathogenesis; and cytokine-induced β-cell death. The assistant professor´s duties will primarily consist of: research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication; research-based teaching with associated examination duties; and communication of research results to the public peer assessment.
