Universal cancer marker shows new treatment options (New Scientist, 20 October 2010)

US researchers have described an unusually large number of receptors for follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), a reproductive hormone, in blood vessels that surround tumours of a variety of tissues including breast, prostate and lung cancers. The presence of these receptors in large numbers could therefore be used to detect cancers and direct the surgical removal of the tumour.
