Freelance consultant(s) wanted to secure scientific reviews for Guy's & St Thomas' Charity

11 Jun 2009

Guy's and St Thomas' Charity awards grants to improve health services in the London boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark. Grants fund a wide range of projects: from small schemes which improve the patients' environment, to major initiatives which involve the purchase of cutting-edge equipment to diagnose or treat illness. As well as funding service improvements the Charity also invests in research and development. It does this in two ways: through providing c. £3m per year to develop local research infrastructure, and through allocating c. £2.5m per year towards research projects and fellowships.

The Charity is seeking one or more freelance consultants to secure independent, expert peer reviews for applications submitted to its Translational Research programme. The Charity is seeking to contract qualified scientists who are familiar with the peer review process to select expert referees for the evaluation of application submitted to the Translational Research programme. Suitable applicants will be familiar with biomedical research and will have research experience relevant to the areas covered by the programme. You will possess a postgraduate qualification in a relevant scientific discipline and have at least four years experience of internationally/nationally competitive research. Knowledge of the peer review process would be an advantage, as would a demonstrable broad interest in biomedical research.

Potential freelance consultants should submit their full CVs and a single page synopsis of their skills and experience pertaining to the role to [email protected] by 5pm, 3 July 2009. These will be shortlisted and interviews will be held in early September 2009.
