PhD Scholarship: Ageing, chronic stress, frailty, and the diurnal rhythms of endocrine and immune factors in saliva

Dr Anna Phillips and Prof Douglas Carroll invite applications for a PhD Scholarship Award that will investigate the diurnal rhythms of key endocrine and immune parameters in saliva, including cortisol, dehydroepiandrosterone, and salivary immunoglobulin A. The objective will be to generate a better understanding of the impact of psychological stress on diurnal variations in these parameters, as well as their association with cognitive and physical decline with age. Data will be collected across two days at several time points from participants of different ages in order to take a life span approach. The ideal candidate will have an interest in the impact of ageing on health and wellbeing, and a background in psychology, human biology, immunology, or endocrinology.
