Levels of key hormone during first trimester of pregnancy could lead to earlier diagnosis of gestational diabetes (AlphaGalileo, 8 October 2008)

Researchers at the University of Kentucky, USA have found that women who go on to develop gestational diabetes during pregnancy, have decreased levels of adiponectin at 9 weeks of gestation, much earlier than previously reported. The results, reported in the latest edition of Clinical Endocrinology could lead to an earlier diagnosis of gestational diabetes.
