The Science Council - Science in Health Group Project Researcher/Clerk

01 Apr 2008

The Science Council is a membership organisation which aims to provide a collective voice for science and scientists. The special interest groups have independent chairs and are comprised of experts from member bodies and external organisations, and advise the Science Council on various policy issues. The Science in Health Group (SiHG), chaired by Professor Stephen Holgate, identifies potential crosscutting projects which focus on areas of importance to human health. One area of major concern, which was highlighted in the evidence for a report on Diagnostics, is how best to engage and develop future scientists to provide a skilled and flexible workforce to resource healthrelated research and health services. The Science Council is now seeking a talented researcher to join its small team to support its SiHG project on the context and future careers for scientists in health. This ground breaking project will gather and analyse evidence from health scientists and their employers across a wide range of settings, in industry, academia, the NHS and beyond. It will examine the current challenges facing scientists as well as the future workforce needs and will consider how to ensure the adequate recruitment and development of scientists across all health sectors. Candidates should have experience of similar projects, and be educated to degree level or equivalent in a science or health related subject. Further details and a full application pack can be downloaded from the link below. The closing date for this post is Thursday 17 April 2008. Interviews will take place on Monday 21 April. March 2008
