The Society for Endocrinology has formed seven special interest groups (SIGs) in order to provide a focus for sub-specialities within the discipline, each of them will: provide a framework for the sub-speciality to come together in a community; promote interdisciplinary interests within the Society; increase the profile of endocrinology as a speciality and strengthen the discipline as a whole.

The seven SIGs are: Andrology (convened by: Professor Hugh Jones (Barnsley) and Professor Fredrick Wu (Manchester)); Bone and mineral (convened by: Dr Bronwen Evans (Cardiff) and Dr Neil Gittoes (Birmingham)); Endocrine disruptors (convened by: Professor Richard Sharpe (Edinburgh) and Professor Ieuan Hughes (Cambridge)); Obesity (convened by: Dr Sadaf Farooqi (Cambridge)); Pituitary (convened by: Dr Rob Fowkes (London) and Dr Jack Ham (Cardiff)); PCOS and metabolic syndrome (convened by: Professor Steve Atkin (Hull) and Dr Harpal Randeva (Warwick)); Steroids (convened by: Professor Wiebke Arlt (Birmingham) and Dr Mike Wallace (Glasgow)).
