The Society for Endocrinology is delighted to announce the winners of the 2025 Student Media Award, a competition designed to inspire creativity, develop science communication skills, and help students bring hormone science to life for KS4 audiences.

This year’s entrants demonstrated exceptional talent, originality, and a clear passion for making endocrinology accessible and engaging. We are thrilled to recognise the outstanding work submitted!

Congratulations to our joint winners, Atakan Değer and İncilay Çayan, undergraduate students at Atilim University, Ankara, Turkey.

Atakan and İncilay impressed with their imaginative and well‑crafted media piece – a KS4-friendly explainer that brings endocrinology to life! They explore why cortisol can be a life-saving hero in short-term stress (fight-or-flight) yet turn into a villain when levels stay high for too long, affecting sleep, mood, blood pressure, and more. View their piece via YouTube.

We would also like to congratulate our worthy runner-up, Willow Carwardine, undergraduate student at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom. Willow’s submission 'A Sonnet on Stress' demonstrated thoughtful storytelling, scientific accuracy, and a strong sense of audience awareness. This piece effectively translated endocrinology into an engaging learning experience for young students, read the poem in full.

Congratulations to all our winners and participants for bringing hormone science to life through engaging and innovative media. We look forward to seeing more inspiring entries next year!
