To distinguish excellence in endocrine research and practice by recognising authors for their contribution to the wider biomedical and biological sciences field.
Up to five awards are presented annually at the SfE BES conference to the authors of the best papers published in Journal of Endocrinology, Journal of Molecular Endocrinology, Endocrine-Related Cancer, Clinical Endocrinology and Endocrine Connections.
Journal of Endocrinology’s focus is on endocrine physiology and metabolism, including hormone secretion, hormone action and biological effects. The journal considers basic and translational studies at the organ, tissue and whole organism level.

DeadlineSuccessful authors are notified of the award.
- Papers are considered on the basis of originality, scientific content, presentation and contribution to the field and will be chosen by a panel comprising the Journal Editorial Boards followed by ratification by the Chair of the Publications Committee.
- The awards are formally announced at the annual SfE BES conference dinner, where one author identified by the group receives their certificate. All other authors in the successful groups are sent their certificates. The identified author also receives a complimentary registration, and accommodation and travel costs assistance to attend the SfE BES conference.
The decision of the panel is final and not subject to appeal.
One award available per year per journal.
