Society for Endocrinology Membership Terms & Conditions

Members of the Society for Endocrinology agree to abide by the rules set out in the Society’s Articles of Association and Byelaws, which can be found on our Governance web page, and by the Society’s Code of Conduct which can be found on our Policies web page.

Our Membership is open to those working professionally in endocrinology via research, teaching, clinical practice or study.

APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP

Applications for membership will not be processed until receipt of a fully completed application form and payment of the membership fee.

Please allow up to 7 working days for us to process your application upon receipt of your payment, although it will usually be less.

Applicants must ensure they select the correct category and career stage for their membership and we reserve the right to ask for proof of status.

Applicants in the early career or student categories must provide an end date for this status.

MEMBERSHIP

The membership year runs from 1 January to 31 December. Applicants will be expected to pay the full year’s membership fee in their first year, regardless of when their application is approved. The membership fee will not be reduced on a pro-rata basis.

If you apply for membership during the period 1 October to 31 December, your membership payment will cover the remainder of that year and all of the following year.

Refunds will not be given for cancelled membership.

Membership renewal notices will be sent 1 to 3 months before the start of the membership year and we ask members to ensure that payment is made in time.

Members who have not paid their membership fee by 1 April will be deemed as lapsed members and will not receive the benefits of membership. All members whose membership has been lapsed for more than 2 years must reapply for membership by completing a membership application form.

Members may pay their membership fee by direct debit after their first year of membership. Members who pay by direct debit will receive notice of their payment being taken at least 10 working days in advance. Members may cancel their direct debit if they no longer wish their subscription to be taken automatically and the membership subscription may then be made by credit or debit card.

Primary grant applicants should have been a Society member for at least one continuous year immediately prior to the grant deadline or for 6 months for an Early Career Member.

Members whose membership has been allowed to lapse will not be eligible for a grant within their first year of reapplication (or 6 months for early career).

Concessionary membership is available to Full and Early Career members who are on a career break for six or more months of the subscription year. Members should contact the membership team as soon as you are able and we will apply a concessionary rate at renewal.

STUDENT MEMBERS

Student members must be studying at least at undergraduate level or full-time Masters level (see individual category information) and may be asked to supply evidence of their status. On application, applicants will be asked to provide the date at which they will no longer be a student to enable renewals to be processed for the correct career stage.

By applying for membership, you permit the Society for Endocrinology to process your personal details.

As a Society for Endocrinology member, you may opt in to receive mailings and email alerts from the Society on its own and related activities. You may unsubscribe from emails at any time by updating your email preferences in the Members’ Area.
