Society for Endocrinology - a world-leading authority on hormones

Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement

We believe that incorporating the experiences and insights of people living with endocrine-related disorders strengthens the relevance, quality and impact of research and clinical practice.

The Society for Endocrinology supports its members to carry out meaningful patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) by fostering links across the endocrine community, particularly our affiliated Patient Support Groups.

We endorse the following principles:

  • Inclusivity: engage a diverse range of voices, especially those underrepresented in research
  • Respect: value lived experience as expertise.
  • Transparency: be clear about the purpose, expectations, and outcomes of involvement.
  • Support: provide guidance and resources to enable effective engagement.
  • Recognition: acknowledge, appreciate and financially reimburse contributions appropriately.
