Society for Endocrinology - a world-leading authority on hormones

Inspirational Public Engagement Award

This award will recognise individuals or teams who have demonstrated impactful public engagement with endocrinology research and/or with hormones more generally. This could be local community projects, outreach in schools, broadcasting, media engagement, digital projects, exhibitions, theatre or something else entirely.

We are looking for initiatives that have a defined audience and clear intent, good execution and evidence of impact within the time/budget resources available. Efforts to ensure accessibility/inclusivity will also be taken into account.

The award winner will receive an honorarium of £750 (only if the winner is an Early-Career or Student Member of The Society) and free travel, registration and accommodation to attend the Society for Endocrinology BES conference, where they will share their achievement via a presentation. Runners up may also be asked to share their achievements with the Society membership.

Marking assessment to be based around:

  • Clear aims/objectives
  • Quality of initiative (taking into account scientific integrity, clarity, reach, alignment with aims/objectives, use of time/budget)
  • Evidence of measuring impact (short/long term, qualitative/quantitative evaluation as appropriate, did initiative meet aims/objectives?)
  • Evidence of consideration of accessibility and inclusion
  • How much of the work was done by applicant (individual or team) vs. Other collaborating individuals or organisations
