Diversity and Inclusion
The Society endeavours to embrace diversity and inclusion
We aim where possible to achieve a good geographical spread, gender representation and ethnic balance on Council and each Committee.
This means that we encourage all members to apply to join Council and Committees, or to nominate others for vacancies, bearing in mind that individual Committees may have certain restrictions that require specific skills for particular roles.
All applications and nominations received are considered and, if there are more than the number of vacancies, a ballot is held.
The ballot for each Committee is held within that Committee and all nominees are notified of the results.
For Council, the ballot is held within the Society membership and the results are announced at the Annual General Meeting.
