Professor Graham Williams is President of the Society for Endocrinology (2016-2019). He is Head of the Molecular Endocrinology Laboratory and Director of Research in the Department of Medicine at Imperial College London. Within the Society, he was Treasurer from 2010-2015 and has been a member of several committees. Externally, he has been involved in a number of other organisations’ committees including the British and the European Thyroid Associations.
His research focuses on identification of novel genetic determinants of bone and cartilage disease and molecular mechanisms of thyroid hormone action in the skeleton. Under his leadership, Clinical Training Fellows, PhD students and post-doctoral scientists in the Molecular Endocrinology Group have received more than 30 prizes for research excellence and work in the laboratory is funded mainly by grants from the Wellcome Trust, including a recent £2.8 million Strategic Award (2013-2018).
