Apoplexy Audit

Pituitary apoplexy is a medical emergency characterised by the sudden onset of headache, vomiting, visual impairment and decreased consciousness caused by haemorrhage and/or infarction of the pituitary gland.

The apoplexy audit project is an audit of practice and outcome. It will assess adherence to the recently published Society for Endocrinology UK guidelines on Apoplexy. Further information on the management of individuals presenting with apoplexy will be obtained to ascertain the concordance of national practice with recommendations in the guidelines.
