I want to register to attend, but don’t want accommodation (residential) what do I do?

If you do not require accommodation please contact our team before registering so that we can provide more information. Requests for registration without accommodation must be made in writing before registering for the meeting, by emailing [email protected]. Applications will be reviewed on a case by case basis, as this course is designed to be residential.

 

I can’t come anymore and need to cancel my place, what do I do?

All requests must be confirmed in writing and accompanied by your confirmation document and receipt for payment. Refund requests can be accepted if submitted before or on Monday 29 January 2024. Requests received after this date cannot be refunded for any reason, including ill health.

When is the conference dinner & quiz?

This year the conference dinner & quiz will be taking place on Tuesday 26 March 2024. 

Residential registrations include access to all sessions, the exhibition, meeting materials, refreshments and lunch on each day, plus conference dinner and quiz (Tuesday) and two nights’ accommodation at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on the Monday and Tuesday evenings. The accommodation is based on single occupancy.

 

Case Submission FAQS

How do I submit a case for Clinical Update 2024?

All cases must be submitted online using our online submission system. For more information and the link to submit, please see the Call for Cases page

Cases sent by email will not be considered.

Please note that the deadline for submission is Monday 22 January 2024 (11.59pm GMT).

What are the formatting requirements for case submissions?

Cases must be no longer than 400 words. They can contain tables (the contents of which will be included in your word count) but no figures or diagrams are permitted.

There are no other formatting requirements for your case.

 

I have missed the deadline for case submission. Can I still submit?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept any cases after the submission deadline Monday 22 January 2024 (11.59pm GMT). But you are encouraged to bring it with you to discuss should the opportunity arise during the workshops.

 

I have registered for Clinical Update 2024. Do I have to submit a case?

Yes – this year it is a requirement that all attending delegates submit a case before the submission deadline (Monday 22 January 2024 11.59pm GMT).

Please note that registering and submitting a case does not guarantee acceptance of your case for presentation at Clinical Update 2024. 

 

I have a really interesting case to submit – is it suitable for Clinical Update 2024?

For Clinical Update 2024, we are not looking for unusual or special cases, simply what you would see day-to-day in your clinic. It is the discussion that will make the presentation special.

 

My case does not fit within one of the listed categories. Where do I submit it?

All cases submitted must be directly relevant to one of the below topics. Cases for different topics will not be considered

  • Arginine Vasopressin Deficiency - cranial diabetes insipidus (Strand: Hypothalamus & pituitary)
  • Management of acromegaly (Strand: Hypothalamus & pituitary)
  • Thyroid nodules, goitre and differentiated thyroid cancer (Strand: Thyroid gland)
  • Phaeochromocytoma and mineralocorticoid hypertension (Strand: Adrenal gland)
  • Gynaecomastia and Sex steroid replacement in males (Strand: Gonads)
  • Sex steroid replacement in females (Strand: Gonads)
  • Hypocalcaemia including vitamin D deficiency (Strand: Parathyroid glands, calcium metabolism & bone)
  • How to help your patients lose weight (Strand: Appetite and weight)
  • Neuroendocrine tumours and hypoglycaemia (Strand: Miscellaneous endocrine & metabolic disorders)

 

How will my case be presented if it is accepted for Clinical Update 2024?

If your case is accepted for Clinical Update 2024, you will be offered either a short presentation within a dedicated workshop on one of the three days of the Meeting.

All accepted cases will be published in Endocrine Abstracts.

Please note that there are no poster presentations at Clinical Update 2024.

 

When will I find out if my case has been accepted?

Our Clinical Update 2024 strand convenors and facilitators will select the most appropriate cases for presentation at the Meeting. Their decision is final.

The submitter will be notified whether your abstract has been accepted or rejected on Friday 16 February 2024.

 

Where and when will my case be published?

All accepted cases will be published in Endocrine Abstracts – a fully online and citable collection of all the cases presented during the Clinical Update 2024 Meeting.

The cases will be published after the conclusion of the Clinical Update 2024 Meeting. The submitter will be notified when the cases have been published online.

 

Can I get a Certificate of Case Presentation for SfE Clinical Update 2024?

Yes of course – if your case is presented in any form at Clinical Update 2024 you can get a Certificate of Presentation.

These will be sent out after Clinical Update 2024 has concluded, if you haven’t received this within two weeks, let us know on [email protected]
