Presenters are asked to prepare their presentation using PowerPoint, with a ratio of 16:9.

Presenters are required to include a disclosure slide as the second slide in their presentation (directly after the title slide). This is available to download here.

Speakers are requested to upload and validate their presentation in the Speaker Preview Room (SPR) a minimum of 3 hours before the session starts, or the day before for early morning sessions. Presentations received after this time cannot be guaranteed optimal audio-visual support. Experienced and skilled technicians will assist you to transfer and check/correct your presentation. Peak hours of operation in the SPR are during coffee breaks and lunch breaks. In order to maximise your time in the SPR, and the attention we are able to give you, we highly recommend visiting early in the morning or during sessions. The accepted media in the SPR are USB/flash drives. Personal computers cannot be connected to the projectors in the lecture rooms.

• Avoid too much content on one slide.

• Please rehearse your presentation to ensure that it is fluid and fits within the allocated time.

• On the day of your presentation, please locate your session room in due time. Please be at your session room at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the session and introduce yourself to the chairpersons.

• Speakers should deliver and view/check their PowerPoint presentations at the Speaker Preview Room located in the venue, at least 3 hours prior to the start of their session, or the day before.

• Speakers are not permitted to take their PowerPoint presentations directly to the technical assistant in the session rooms.

• Speakers are not permitted to use their own laptops.

Oral Poster presenters are also required to bring a printed, physical poster to SfE BES 2019. This should be in portrait orientation and no larger than A0 in size.

These posters will be displayed in a prominent area of the venue for the duration of the Conference and will be judged alongside the oral poster presentations. The top-scoring oral poster in each Network will be awarded a prize in the Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 13 November 2019.

Fixings to hang posters will be available to collect from the venue - you do not need to bring your own.

Posters

All posters will be displayed throughout the venue for the entirety of the Conference in Brighton. We encourage all delegates to spend time looking at the posters during the Conference, and to discuss the results and findings with attending authors.

We suggest that presenters with odd-numbered poster codes (P1, P3, P5 etc.) stand by their posters during the lunchtime session on Monday 11 November (12:40-13:55).

We suggest that presenters with even-numbered poster codes (P2, P4, P6 etc) stand by their posters during the lunchtime session on Tuesday 12 November (13:25–14:40).

All posters should be printed as physical posters and should be no larger than A0 in size and in portrait orientation.

Fixings to hang posters will be available to collect from the venue - you do not need to bring your own.

The 10 top-scoring Clinical Case posters (CC1 - CC10) will be displayed in the Registration area of the venue. These will be judged onsite at lunchtime on Tuesday 12 November and it is suggested that these authors attend their poster during this time (13:25 – 14:40).

• To be of value, your poster should not be too cluttered and should be set out in a clear and logical manner, with reading material reduced to an absolute minimum.

• Keep fonts simple and use only one or two different fonts.

• Font size – your poster should be easily legible at a distance of 1.5 metres. We recommend the following font sizes:

o Title: 80-100pt.
o Authors and affiliations: 30-40pt.
o Main text: 32-40pt (although 28pt or even 24pt could be used in isolated areas, or if you have a very large amount of text).
o References: 24-32pt.

• Keep the use of colour to a minimum.
o Neutral colours work better as a background than bright colours.

• Maintain a consistent style.

• Keep text to a minimum.

• Make use of graphics where possible.
o Drawings, diagrams and photos are extremely helpful and often necessary to display results and conclusions, but don’t overload tables and figures with information.

• Only include what is absolutely necessary – be selective when showing results.

• Check your spelling and grammar.
