He completed his PhD in thyroid epidemiology. His research focuses on the effects of common variation in thyroid status, as well as thyroid hormone prescribing and thyroid screening in pregnancy.  He also had considerable involvement in trials in thyroid in pregnancy and thyroid eye disease.  He has received awards at both national and international conferences for his work and has over 50 publications related to thyroid.
