The Bioscientifica Trust was established in 2016 to support early-career scientists and clinicians in biomedicine and the life sciences, by helping to facilitate networking, cooperative research, and other interactions through the provision of small grants.

The next application deadline is 31 December 2021 and funds are available to early-career scientists and clinicans:

• Standard Grants: typically up to €5,000/£5,000 for early-career led research or service delivery with academic, clinical or public benefit
• Travel Grants: typically up to €2,000/£2,000 to support travel for new international collaborations or the dissemination of new findings to wider audiences
• Scientific Meeting Grants: up to €10,000/£10,000 to support small, tightly focused meetings on specific topics

The Bioscientifica Trust Board of Trustees recently appointed fresh, new talent.

Chair of the Trustees, Professor David Ray, said: “We welcome these new, dynamic and enthusiastic members to the Board of Trustees and look forward to the fresh ideas and perspectives that they can contribute to further the Trust’s mission, to improve research and clinical outcomes for the public benefit.”

Lisa Nicholas, is a senior research fellow and head of the Epigenetics in Diabetes Research Group at the University of Adelaide in Australia. Dr. Nicholas comments, “The Bioscientifica Trust serves a really important role in supporting early-career researchers working in endocrinology. I look forward to working together with the other trustees to increase the profile of the Trust, so that we may fund even more exciting and important research in the future.”

Stavroula Paschou, is an assistant professor of endocrinology at the School of Medicine, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Greece. “I deeply appreciate the aims of the Trust and I wanted to join this effort. I am looking forward to helping support early-career scientists and my efforts will focus on increasing young scientists’ opportunities for funding and academic development, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion and social or economic background," Asst. Prof. Paschou explains.
