Obesity may be influenced by removing unhealthy snacks from the checkout

A study, published in PLOS Medicine, indicates that sales of sweets and crisps are reduced if they are not placed near checkouts. The findings suggest that consumers are then less likely to buy unhealthy foods overall, which may help tackle rising obesity rates.
