The ESE would like to advise members that the ESE byelaws have recently been updated. At the last Executive Committee meeting in October 2008, it was agreed to make the following two amendments to the ESE byelaws: Amendment 1: In order to reflect the current practice to amend Clause 7.2 from: "Affiliated Societies and the Executive Committee may nominate cities as hosts of the European Congress of Endocrinology and such nominations must be accompanied by a statement of support from the national endocrine society of the host country, together with any other information specified by the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee shall appoint a Nominations Sub-committee to review all applications and to make recommendations to the Executive Committee. The final decision shall be made by the Executive Committee" to "Affiliated Societies and the Executive Committee may nominate cities as hosts of the European Congress of Endocrinology and such nominations must be accompanied by a statement of support from the national endocrine society of the host country, together with any other information specified by the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee shall appoint the Congress Committee to review all applications and to make recommendations to the Executive Committee. The final decision shall be made by the Executive Committee." Amendment 2: Clause 3.3 of the ESE byelaws stated that membership would be terminated if "any sum due from the member to the Society is not paid in full within one year of it falling due." As the society is now more established it has been decided to reduce this to 6 months. Therefore clause 3.3 has been amended to: "any sum due from the member to the Society is not paid in full within 6 months of it falling due."
