In late June, the Selection Panel selected this year’s 7 new Leadership and Development Awardees. We are pleased to announce that we have a broad range of members from different backgrounds in endocrinology.
The Leadership and Development Awards Programme is designed to recognise and nurture emerging talent in endocrinology to become the future leaders of our discipline.
This programme was devised as part of the Society’s strategy to advance and support endocrinology and will provide a wide range of opportunities and support for early career endocrinology professionals to enable them to develop naturally into future leaders of our discipline.

Annie De Bray
Dr Annie de Bray is a Specialist Registrar and Academic Clinical Lecturer in Diabetes and Endocrinology at the University of Birmingham. She completed a DPhil at Oxford (OCDEM) developing fluorescent probes for GIPR and GIPR/GLP1R. Her research focuses on obesity care, particularly the transition of young people from paediatric to adult services. She sits on the SfE public engagement committee, is part of the metabolism and obesity network working group and was previously chair of Young Diabetologists and Endocrinologists Forum (YDEF).
Bonnie Grant
Bonnie Grant is an Endocrinology Registrar and Postdoctoral Clinical Research Fellow in London. During her clinical training, she completed a PhD at Imperial College London investigating the endocrine and psychological consequences of non-prescribed testosterone use. She is interested in improving evidence-based care and training opportunities in reproductive endocrinology.
Zin Htut
Zin is a Specialist Registrar in Endocrinology in North West London and is currently undertaking a PhD at Imperial College London. Her research focuses on medical therapy and molecular imaging in Cushing's disease, and on prednisolone treatment in adrenal insufficiency. She serves on the SfE Research Working Group and the editorial board of The Endocrinologist.
Kate (Katharine) Lazarus
Kate is an endocrinology registrar based in NW London. She has recently returned to clinical training following a Sir George Alberti training fellowship investigating the use of GLP-1 analogues to prevent steroid-induced diabetes.
Her other research centres around mitigating harm from glucocorticoids, in particular optimising replacement therapy in adrenal insufficiency and HPA axis recovery in glucocorticoid-induced adrenal insufficiency. Alongside her research and clinical work, she is a member of the Young Diabetologists and Endocrine Forum committee.
Maria Michaelidou
Dr Maria Michaelidou is a Consultant Endocrinologist at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. She specialises in endocrine oncology, with interests in immunotherapy-related endocrinopathies and cancer survivorship. She is passionate about improving patient care through collaborative work, service development and medical education.
Cosmina Schiteanu
Cosmina is an Endocrine Nurse Specialist with 10 years of nursing experience, including the last 4 years working in an outpatient endocrinology clinic. She has a strong passion for endocrinology and enjoys supporting patients through complex diagnostic pathways and long-term condition management. Cosmina is committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care while continually developing her specialist knowledge and skills.
Jovanna Tsoutsouki
Dr Jovanna Tsoutsouki is an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in Endocrinology at Imperial College London. Following a PhD in reproductive neuroendocrinology, she conducts clinical and translational research alongside her clinical and teaching roles. She sits on the Society's Public Engagement Committee, the Metabolism and Obesity Working Network, and the editorial board of You and Your Hormones.’
