Apelin hormone injections powerfully lower blood sugar (EurekAlert! 4 November 2008)

Researchers writing in Cell Metabolism have shown that injecting the hormone apelin into both normal and obese mice leads to a significant reduction in blood sugar levels. Apelin, produced by fat cells, might therefore be a promising target for managing insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.
