We are delighted to congratulate three outstanding members of the Society, Professor Sadaf Farooqi, Professor Rebecca Reynolds and Professor Ashley Grossman, who have recently been recognised for their exceptional contributions to the field of endocrinology.
Professor Sadaf Farooqi, Clinician Scientist at the Institute of Metabolic Science at the University of Cambridge, has been awarded the Gerald D. Aurbach Award for Outstanding Translational Research as part of the 12 leading endocrinologists carefully selected as winners of the Endocrine Society's prestigious 2026 Laureate Awards. This annual award recognizes outstanding contributions to research that accelerates the transition of scientific discoveries into clinical applications. Professor Farooqi has been honoured with this award for her discoveries of fundamental mechanisms that control human energy homeostasis.
With colleagues, she discovered the first genes whose disruption causes severe obesity. In pioneering clinical studies, she established that the principal driver of human obesity is a failure of the central control of appetite and that the leptin-melanocortin pathway regulates food intake, macronutrient preference, food reward and body weight. Her research has changed the investigation, management and treatment of children and adults with severe obesity.
Professor Rebecca Reynolds, Personal Chair of Metabolic Medicine and Dean International at the University of Edinburgh, has received the International Excellence in Endocrinology Award from the Endocrine Society, as part of their prestigious 2026 Laureate Awards. These awards highlight professionals who have achieved breakthroughs in scientific discoveries and clinical care benefiting people with hundreds of conditions, including diabetes, thyroid disorders, obesity, hormone-related cancers, growth problems, osteoporosis and infertility.
Professor Reynolds has made transformative contributions to women’s health and pregnancy outcomes, particularly in low and middle-income countries. Her leadership in global education and research partnerships continues to shape the future of endocrine care worldwide.

Professor Ashley Grossman, Professor of Endocrinology at University of Oxford and a senior research fellow at Green Templeton College in Oxford, has been honoured with the 2025 Transatlantic Alliance Award, also jointly presented by the European Society of Endocrinology and the Endocrine Society. This award recognises his long-standing commitment to international collaboration and his influential work in neuroendocrinology and pituitary disorders.
Professor Grossman received this prestigious award in recognition of his global leadership in endocrinology and his international research collaborations to advance our understanding of neuroendocrine tumors and pituitary disorders.
