Girls in girl-boy twin pairs may be a bit heavier (Reuters, 18 March 2011)

A study from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden has shown that girls with a male twin can be slightly heavier in later life than those with a female twin. The researchers propose that this could be due to differences in behaviour when growing up with siblings of different sexes, and/or exposure to different levels of male hormones within the womb.
